Education + Catechesis

Interdiscipinary and Interreligious Environmental Education

In church and society, a greater sensitivity is needed for the great topic of preserving creation and biological diversity. Catechesis, religious education and preaching should focus in a special way on the environment as a vital and equal (!) co-world and thus also on animals, our closest relatives. Together with various partners from the fields of theology, biology didactics and nature conservation, the Insstitute of Theological Zoology has developed impulses and working materials for its own implementation with children's, youth and adult groups in schools and congregations.

“Many things have to change course, but it is we human beings above all who need to change. We lack an awareness of our common origin, of our mutual belonging, and of a future to be shared with everyone.”

Pope Francis, Encyclical letter Laudato Si, 202, Ecological Education and Spirituality

Further focal points in the field of Teaching and Catechesis are: Spiritual Gardening, Creation Experience (Schöpfung erfahren), Awareness of Nature (Naturbewusstsein).
